Why did the Chicken Cross the Road?

Kauai is home to thousands of wild chickens. According to a local that Deborah met, there used to be quite a bit of chicken gamecock fighting on the island. In 1992, Hurricane Iniki hit the island, and the birds were freed from their cages. For the past 18 years, the gamecocks/chickens have roamed freely and seem to have taken over the island. They are everywhere! Go fighting gamecocks!



Most of the restaurants are open-air...it just makes it easier for the feathered patrons to come and go as they please.
