On the Subject of things "I Heart"...

DSC_0054

Five years ago today Graem and I became "Mr. and Mrs." It has been a wonderful five years!

Graem: I love you more and more each day! Thanks for being the best husband and father this crazy girl could ask for!

I Heart Weekends

I feel like all of my posts lately have centered on our weekend activities. I love weekends!

This past weekend was especially wonderful because our very good friends, the "Skis," came to visit. We haven't seen them since New Years! Ski is an accountant, so he doesn't get much free time between January and mid-April. We had a wonderful visit, with lots of laughs, good food & good company.

We started out the weekend with a visit to Riverbanks on Friday.

We hung out at our house all day on Saturday...the children had a great time playing together outside and Graem and Ski grilled & smoked a bunch of meat. I regret that I didn't get a picture. Chicken, ribs, turkey tenderloins, sausage...hopefully our arteries have started to recover.

Miss Leah is such a sweet girl...she was constantly giving Roper hugs and kisses.

The Skis stopped by campus on their way home...Ashley sent me this picture and I had to share it, since she refuses to start her own blog. :) What a sweet picture!

One morning this week Roper discovered the dog's water bowl. Why are children so fascinated by the dogs' food & water?? It will never cease to amaze me frustrate me that I have to battle with Mason to get him to eat veggies...yet he willingly eats dog food if I let him. Nonetheless, Roper quite enjoyed splashing the water all over the place. This probably makes some of you mothers cringe...but I let him go for it...after all, its just water.

Other Weekend Happenings...

What were the boys doing while I was living it up at the beach? On Saturday they went fishing at Graem's parents land in Edgefield. Mason has been carrying his fishing rod around all week, talking about fishing at Grandaddy's pond!

I'm amazed at how well he can cast his rod!

The Future Mrs. DeBerry

Jessica, one of my college roommates, is getting married in 2 weeks. Her fiance's family was kind enough to let us use their fabulous beach house for a girl's weekend before she & Steven tie the knot!

As you can tell from the pictures, we really enjoyed ourselves!

Melt My Heart...

Not only is Mason's vocabulary increasing by the day, but he can communicate so much more effectively lately. Last night when I put him to bed and told him I loved him, very clearly he replied, "I love you too, Mommy." So sweet. I was not prepared for the effect of hearing those four words for the first time, completely un-prompted. I will do my best to recall that feeling during his next tantrum!

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday was very fulfilling in every sense of the word...food, fellowship, family, and most important, reflecting on the sacrifice that God made for us.

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

We started the morning with Easter baskets.

Aunt Ruth gave Mason these bunny ears for his first Easter and I pull them back out each year because they are so stinkin cute! Roper is giving them a thumbs up.

After church, we headed up to the farm for a delicious lunch at Mama & Daddy's followed by dessert and an Easter egg hunt at Aunt Beth's house. More baskets, courtesy of Bebe...

Mason's favorite treat from his basket was not the chocolate or other candy...it was his bubbles. The yo-yo was a close second. Bebe helped him with his bubbles.
