My baby boy is 13 weeks old today and will be 3 months old in just a few hours! Although baby Roper hasn't reached any major milestones, there are certainly some noteworthy changes in his development. He is getting stronger and has good control of his head and neck, although he's still a little wobbly when he gets tired. He enjoys tummy time more now that his neck is stronger. He smiles and coos, and loves to look at his hands and the face of anyone close by. His favorite pastime (besides eating) is watching his big brother get into mischief...and he still enjoys getting some good shut-eye.
Now that Roper is 3 months old, I will have to start quoting his age in months instead of weeks. This in itself just makes him seem older!
Roper has been wearing size 6 month clothes for the past several weeks...but the poor fella has been living out of a big plastic box full of clothes. This is due to my procrastination. You see, I haven't hung the size 6-month clothes in his closet yet, because in order to do that I would have to pack up all the Newborn and 3-month clothes that are currently hanging in his closet that he's outgrown already. I'm dreading packing away all those sweet little outfits! He grew so quickly that he didn't even get to wear all of them! It is very out-of-character for me to be sentimental about this type of thing. I remember going through this with Mason and being shocked that I was emotional about packing away his first outfits. I was concerned that each time he moved up a size I'd be a basketcase all over again. Thankfully, my emotions kept themselves in check each other time. Until now that is...I'm re-living it with Roper! I think the tiny baby clothes are different because when I originally washed them and put them away in his closet I was still pregnant and full of excitement and anticipation about meeting a new little person. So I'm putting off packing them up...but not for much longer now that the weather is getting cooler!
In other news, I'm very excited about a purchase I made this week -- a new camera! It is a
Nikon D3000 and I love it. I was inspired by the beautiful pictures that
Tara {friend}, Alice {cousin} and
Darby {someone I have never met but feel like I know because I stalk her blog -- she is a friend of one of Tara's friends from college -- or
something like that} have taken with their digital SLR cameras. Hopefully with some practice I, too, will have gorgeous photos! :) The
D3000 is a new model that just came out last month and will replace the D60. I'm still learning how to use it and thanks to all the rain we've had this week I haven't had many opportunities to experiment with it. I'm looking forward to playing with it this weekend! Stay tuned for some new & improved pictures!
